Back in 1946, the newly organized high school which later became known as Kingsway became a trendsetter when all of its graduating class sat and passed the Senior Cambridge University Exam. Among the students were Lennox and Ouida. A few years later, they got married and migrated to the United States. With the seeds of academic success planted at Kingsway, the two went on to defining careers – Dr. Lennox Westney as a respected obstetrician/gynecologist and Dr. Ouida Westney, now 91, as a Dean of Academic Affairs and professor at Howard University.
Kingsway High School has empowered and transformed thousands of lives and continues its pioneers’ work. This year, the school once again made history when Josiah diCarlo sat the CSIC exam as the youngest student ever.
The school is a private institution greatly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, which has made it difficult for most parents to pay tuition and for the school to stay on the cutting edge without the upgraded technology needed to facilitate virtual/remote learning.
